Live Inspired: Do Not Block My Business
by E Claudette Freeman

DO NOT BLOCK MY BUSINESS! What a statement! Do not block my business! Often, especially for aspiring entrepreneurs there is a circle of pessimists, naysayers and those who peer into the future with a consistent negative report lurking at every turn. Their motive seems harmless – they merely want you to consider the bad as well as the good. They always have a plan B; a when you fail clause – not if, but when you fail. There is a simple and profound message you must speak to these people – DO NOT BLOCK MY BUSINESS. Your time, your finances, your health and your spirit go into building a successful business – they all are thwarted and sometimes destroyed by people sharing behaviors and attitude that block you.

Faith is perhaps the hardest, yet most necessary thing for aspiring entrepreneurs to have. If you do not believe without question and without doubt in what you are doing – then why should any serious potential consumer. If you can not tell your negative family and friends – DO NOT BLOCK MY BUSINESS – how can you effectively bring business in? What lives in the mind and the spirit of the proprietor will dictate the contracts and business that comes through his door. The business blockers can effectively cause you to waste mental energy, spend unwisely and budget time to matters that do not produce business for you.

Wasted mental energy is expended when you give ten minutes of thought to the seemingly plausible notion – that perhaps you should have opened a flower shop when your natural gifting and your passion is in graphic design. You spent ten minutes of valuable thought on that – when your creative stream should have been focused on designing your new logo. The concept of this flower shop took ten minutes of your time, time that you could have spent following up with the email request for a newsletter designer – yes in that small amount of time, your lack of response may have cost you that client.

There will always be people close to us who do not see our vision and can not grasp our faith in ourselves, our vision and our God – that’s fine. What is not fine, is allowing these same people to get you off course. Set your chart, after all who builds a house or a business without counting the costs first? Once your chart is set, follow your course – not anyone else’s. And when the pessimists, naysayers and dark vision casters come knocking – and they will – tell them DO NOT BLOCK MY BUSINESS; instead pay attention to your own. Be prosperous.
