The Story Fairy

Why just the other day the story fairy came my way and she whispered a story in my ear. She truly did…a wonderful story just for you…it is all about Mikie Mulligan Master of Disguise

“Mikie, how exciting, your first day of Kindergarten! Mikie just looked at his Mom and said, “I’d rather stay home.” “Oh, come on Mikie, it will be fun. Let’s go,” and out the door they went. Mikie whispered to himself, “Whew, at least she didn’t check my pockets!” “What Mikie?” asked his Mom. “Oh, uh, nothing Mom,” said Mikie. Mrs. Mulligan always checked Mikie’s pockets before they went anywhere important. She never knew what Mikie would bring with him to disguise himself with. He loved being someone else; he loved being Mikie Mulligan Master of Disguise!

“I wonder who Mikie will be today,” whispered Patty to Dan. “Maybe he will be a Policeman and try to arrest our teacher,” giggled Dan. “Oh, here he comes and he looks just like Mikie,” said Patty. As soon as all the parents left the room Mikie reached into his pocket and took out his black eye patch and put it over his right eye. “Patty, look, he’s going to be a pirate today! Wait until Mrs. Jones sees him, “said Dan. All the children started to giggle. Mrs. Jones turned and saw Mikie standing there in his red and white-stripped shirt and his black patch over his right eye. “Mikie did something happen to your eye?” she asked. “Arrrrrrr,” said Mikie. “Mrs. Jones, Mikie is a pirate today,” said Dan. “Arrrrrrr,” said Mikie. “Oh,” said Mrs. Jones. And, that was Mikie the pirate’s first day in Kindergarten.

On the second day of Kindergarten Mikie once again managed to conceal his disguise from his mother. “Hey Mikie, what are you going to be today?” asked Dan. All the children in line began to giggle. Mikie hung up his jacket and took his red bandana and sheriff’s badge out from under his shirt and put them on. He walked straight up to Mrs. Jones and said, “Howdy Mam,” and sat down at his desk.

Mrs. Jones decided she had to speak with Mikie’s mother about Mikie’s strange behavior. Mrs. Mulligan explained that Mikie loved being Mikie Mulligan Master of Disguise; she also told her that it wouldn’t happen again. That night she had a long talk with Mikie about how she loved all his disguises but school was not the place for them. She was surprised that Mikie didn’t seem upset.

On the third day of Kindergarten Mikie waited in line with all the other children. “Mikie, so Mrs. Jones talked to your Mom; I’ll bet you got in a lot of trouble, no more disguises for you!” said Dan. Mikie just smiled. Little did anyone know that today Mikie had on the best disguise of all. Mikie whispered to himself, “Little do they know that the best disguise seems like no disguise at all.” You see Mikie had on his Spiderman T-shirt underneath his school shirt; he was ready to be a Superhero if and when he needed to. He was truly Mikie Mulligan Master of Disguise!

The End
